Much like the riders’ weyrs, the barracks are two large areas cut into the middle part of the caverns. One is for the females, the other for the males. At no time while in these barracks is the opposite general aloud in the barracks. However, once 6th months come around and weyrlings move into their own barracks, privacy allows visiting from the other gender. In appearance the barracks are like a long room with bunks along the walls. Next to each bunk is a bed for the dragonet, and a sheet separates each “section” from the others for limited privacy.

On one of the lower levels is the Dining Hall and Kitchens. The hall is located on the outer portions of the caverns so that entrances are cut into the stone. They serve as incredibly large windows, letting in light. The room itself is large enough for the Weyr, Serpent Hold, and guests. However, it generally only holds a small portion of what it is capable of. The middle table is where the leadership of the Weyr sit, and around it are smaller tables for the other weyrfolk, riders, candidates and weyrlings. Along the walls are glows, tapestries, and murals that are painted on the stone. The kitchens are connected to the dining hall, and are in a fairly open area to let out smoke and heat.

A naturally occurring spring has been pushed into a large pool on one of the lower levels of the Weyr. Some of it is sheltered by rock overhanging around the pool, but a large portion is out in the open to the elements. There are cabinets under the rock overhang to house cloths, oils and sands for cleaning. Both people and smaller creatures can bathe here. Larger dragons must go to the falls to bathe. Serpents have their own lagoons and the sea to use.
