How Many Characters Can I Have?
Here at Rebirth you are allowed as many characters as you wish to have. The only catch is in terms of candidates. You are only allowed two candidates for dragons and serpents each. This is to make life a bit easier for admins and mods before a hatching. You also have more of a chance at building a good candidate if you don't have a ton to consider and rp with. Back to normal character though, the ranking of your existing characters will effect what you get in clutches.
A member with a Junior Weyrwoman, Wingleader, Midnight Serpent and MasterHarper will have less a chance at getting a ranking color at first than a member with a Wing Rider, Aquamarine Serpent and Drudge. This doesn't mean that they will never get a ranking color, just that it will take a bit more time for them to. I try to keep things equal between members and not show favorites; it's not fair to the community and I frown upon anything of the sort.
If you have many characters, and don't think you can take in a new one, but despretly want to stand for a clutch I have a solution. You do not have to get rid of characters in order to feel good about getting a new one. Say you have 3 serpents and we need candidates for another clutch. You want to put one in, but you have 3 already. You have a few choices.
1) You can NPC one or two of them, all if you even want to. NPC's are always needed after all.
2) You can adopt some of them out. You can even wait to adopt them out until you see what you get. Have three Aquas and you get a Silver? By all means wait to figure that out before deciding which you want to give away.
3) You can always kill 'em off. This is always an option, just know you'll never be able to see them again or possibly get them back.
4) My favorite, and one I often use myself, you can put a few characters "On the Shelf". In plotting you can make a thread filled with all of your characters. Simply put in the thread that the character is "On the Shelf," and people will know you are waiting to have muse for them. This makes it so you can keep getting new characters, but don't have to worry about the ones you already have and not rping them at the time.
Rules About Candidates
These are Ooc rules for candidates. Again you can only have TWO candidates at one time for dragons and TWO candidates for serpents. This makes a total of four. At despret times of need we will take three, however this is rare since most eggs we have left will either be put up for adoption, or be made as dud eggs or betweens.
IC rules about candidates are as follows:
1)Candidates will not all impress dragons generally. The only exception is if there are just enough candidates for all the eggs planned to hatch. Even this is rare though since even if we have a clutch of 25 eggs, and exactly 25 candidates, generally not all of the eggs will hatch/impress. This is especially in the case of Serpents.
2)Candidates hoping to impress must attend at least 1 of the lessons. Yes, touching the eggs does count as a lesson.
3)On the topic of touching eggs, we will have touchings here, especially since Nystiarth is a fairly tame Queen. However, if any eggs are threatened, there will be consequences. Prepare for your candidate to get injured.
4)Candidates cannot be made a week from when the hatching will occur. By this time, the members hosting the hatching should already have in mind who is impressing and who isn't. The other reason is that a lot of sites have a sudden influx of candidates a week before the hatching. This really doesn't allow everyone to see how the candidate acts when rpd, and can result in bad matchings with hatchlings. The only exception to this rule is if a candidate is made purposefully to be killed. Since they aren't going to live long anyway, it doesn't matter if we don't have as much time to watch them.
Note: For the first few hatchings I will allow you to make candidates a week before a hatching. Mainly because we don't always have enough candidates.
Rules About Hatchings
1)IC, whenever your candidate goes to a hatching they must have the following.....
-the white candidate robe
-the sandals that are worn on the hatching sands
-NO FIRELIZARDS OR ANY OTHER PET ON THE SANDS....I've never known a mother dragon or wher that enjoys these creatures near their eggs. Candidates are usually bothersome enough.
2)Again, to be eligible for impressing, the candidate must have been at 1 lesson at least. The touching counts as a lesson, but it is not mandatory for the candidates to be at.....though really IC they should have been there.
3)If there is a fight on the sands between hatchlings, stay out of their way. Do not try and be a hero and break up the fight....it will either get your candidate seriously maimed by the hatchlings or by a very angry mother. Queens will break up fights. HOWEVER, if a hatchling falls and gets tangled in its wings and is having trouble getting straight, you can move forward and help it then go back to your spot among the candidates.
4)In the case of dragons, there is a table at the edge of the hatching sands with oil, rags, and buckets of meat for the hatchlings. This is where impressed candidates should head to, unless they are injured and unable to walk. In the case of serpents, there is a table again with meat and rags. However you must bring it to them. Serpentlings will stay in the water, and even after impressing they stay together in a small lagoon near the barracks.
5)Yes, we will try to have feasts after the hatchings.
Rules About Weyrlings and Trainees
These rules are all IC:
1)Both of these must attend about 2/3 of the lessons to graduate. For instance, in a situation where there are 6 lessons, 4 must be attended to graduate with your group.
2)Weyrlings/Trainees can have relationships, however keep them clean for the first 6 months IC. Too much intimacy at this stage can distress a dragonet or serpentling and make them between, or damage them mentally. If you do make your weyrlings/trainees become intimate before this 6th month mark, especially with fully fledged riders/tamers, you will be punished IC and Ooc. This is especially because fully fledged riders/tamers should know better. After the 6th month mark relationships between weyrlings and trainees are allowed. However, relationships with older riders/tamers are frowned upon IN PERNESE SOCIETY. There will be no real consequence, just a few bad looks your characters' way IC most likely.
